I have over 10 years experience working in construction in New Zealand. I have a construction management qualification with a major in quantity surveying. Over the past few years I have worked as both a Quantity Surveyor/estimator and Project manager on construction projects in NZ. These jobs have ranged from residential housing, commercial projects and more recently industial projects for mining giant Rio Tinto. 

I believe there is real value in having an estimate prepared before any building work commences. Too often have I seen in the past, contractors or homeowners unware of construction costs before starting a new project. Which can sometimes lead to unwanted costs if you are the client or uncapptured costs if you are the contractor and will run at a loss.  If there is a cost estimate provided up front this can help eliminate stress.

Away from construction I have had a decade completing on the international stage as a cyclist/triathlete. I was also part of the 2016 Rio Olympics, gold medal winning coaching team that provided bike coaching to the British triathlon team from London Olympics in 2012 through to the Rio games in 2016. I believe this experience along with my own experience as a professional athlete helps when managing your project or property due to the level of detail I am used to working too.
